The inclined plate (tube) sedimentation tank is an efficient water treatment equipment based on the principle of shallow sedimentation, which improves sedimentation efficiency by adding inclined parallel plates or tubular structures.

1. Structure and principle

Slant plate sedimentation tank: composed of parallel inclined plates with a spacing of usually 50-100mm and an inclination angle of 50-60 °. The water flow forms laminar flow between the plates, and the particle settling path is short.

Slant tube sedimentation tank: using honeycomb shaped tubular components (such as hexagonal or rectangular tubes), with a diameter of 25-50mm, an inclination angle of 60 °, a smaller hydraulic radius, and a more stable laminar flow state.

2. Technical advantages

Efficiency improvement: The sedimentation area increases by 3-5 times, the surface load can reach 3-5m ³/(m ² · h), and the residence time is shortened to 15-40 minutes.

Applicability: The inclined tube tank is suitable for high turbidity raw water (such as Yellow River water), while the inclined plate tank is more suitable for oily or fiber impurity wastewater (such as paper mills).

 3. Classification and Hydraulic Conditions

Flow direction classification: divided into three types: same direction flow (water, mud in the same direction), opposite direction flow (reverse direction), and lateral flow.

Hydraulic parameters: The Reynolds number (Re) of the inclined tube pool is usually below 200, and the Froude number (Fr) of the inclined plate pool is about 10 ⁻³~10 ⁻¹.

4. Application and maintenance

Industrial application: In the integrated wastewater treatment system of Shaanxi Kangbo Environmental Protection, the inclined plate sedimentation tank is used to remove suspended solids and sediment.

Maintenance cost: The spacing between the inclined plates is relatively large, making it less prone to blockage and resulting in lower maintenance costs.
